Who might be able to join this trial:

• You are between 40 and 80 years old (inclusive) at the time of signing the consent form.
• You have a higher-than-normal level of a type of white blood cell called eosinophils in your blood.
• You have been diagnosed with moderate to severe COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) for at least 1 year, confirmed by a breathing test showing specific results.
• You have had at least 2 moderate flare-ups (exacerbations) or at least 1 severe flare-up of your COPD in the past 12 months.
• You scored 10 or higher on a standard COPD symptom questionnaire called the CAT (COPD Assessment Test).
• You are a current or former cigarette smoker with at least 10 pack-years of smoking history (for example, 1 pack per day for 10 years, or 2 packs per day for 5 years).
• You have been using a combination of three inhaled medications (an inhaled steroid, plus two different types of long-acting inhalers) for at least 6 months before the screening visit.
• Your body mass index (a measure of body weight relative to height) is at least 16.
• You are male, or a female who meets the trial's specific eligibility requirements (confirm with trial site).

Who may not be able to join:

• You have been diagnosed with asthma by a doctor, either now or in the past.
• You have another significant lung condition where COPD is not considered your main lung problem.
• You have had pneumonia, a COPD flare-up, or a lower respiratory tract infection in the 4 weeks before your screening visit.
• You have had lung volume reduction surgery or a procedure involving endobronchial valves, or you are planning to have one.
• You have been in an active pulmonary rehabilitation (lung exercise) program within the 4 weeks before your screening visit.
• You need to use supplemental oxygen for more than 12 hours per day.
• You have a serious heart condition related to lung problems, such as right heart failure or severe high blood pressure in the lungs.
• You need to use a breathing support machine at night or during the day (such as BiPAP or CPAP) due to a build-up of carbon dioxide in your blood.
• You have an unstable heart condition or an irregular heartbeat.
• You have had a known parasitic infection within the 6 months before your screening visit.
