Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's disease based on recognised medical guidelines
  • You scored between 10 and 22 on a standard memory and thinking test called the MMSE
  • Both you and your caregiver can understand and communicate in English or Mandarin
  • You are able to give your own consent to participate, or you have a trusted legal representative who can do this on your behalf
  • You have good support from family members to help with your care and recovery after the procedure
  • You are considered healthy enough to safely undergo general anaesthesia or deep sedation and surgery (not counting the Alzheimer's diagnosis itself)

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your memory or thinking problems are caused by a past infection or an autoimmune disease rather than Alzheimer's disease
  • You have had a significant stroke or serious heart or blood vessel disease
  • Your head cannot be gently turned at least 40 degrees to the side
  • You have had previous surgery or radiation treatment on the lymph nodes in your neck
  • You currently have an active infection or cancer
  • You have any medical reason that would make surgery or a lumbar puncture (spinal fluid sample) unsafe for you
  • You have a reason you cannot safely have an MRI or PET scan, such as a non-MRI-safe metal implant in your body or a known allergy to the scan tracers used
  • You have taken part in an experimental Alzheimer's treatment within the last 6 months
  • You are currently being treated with monoclonal antibody medications such as lecanemab or donanemab
