Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 85 years old
- A scan (MRI or CT) has confirmed you have arthritis in the small joints of your spine (called facet joints)
- Special nerve block injections have confirmed that these spinal joints are the source of your back pain
- Your back pain has lasted for at least 6 months and has not been adequately controlled with medications
- Your pain is rated at least 6 out of 10 on a pain scale
- You have already tried at least one steroid/numbing injection into the joint OR a procedure to deaden the nerves, without enough relief
- Your pain comes from no more than 2 levels in the lower part of your spine
- You are largely able to look after yourself with little or no disability (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently pregnant
- You have previously had a similar embolization procedure at the same area of the spine being targeted
- You have had surgery or a stent placed in the large artery (aorta) in the area that would be treated
- You have had a severe allergic reaction (such as anaphylaxis) to the dye used in certain medical imaging scans
- Your kidneys are not working well enough, unless you are already on dialysis (confirm with trial site)
- You have significant disability affecting your daily functioning (confirm with trial site)
- During the procedure, if blood vessels supplying the spinal cord are found to also supply the joints being treated, you would not be able to continue (confirm with trial site)
