- Adults aged 18 or older who are scheduled to have planned (non-emergency) major surgery for colon or rectal cancer, with the goal of curing the cancer
- People who have an appointment with a colorectal cancer surgeon at least one week before their scheduled surgery date
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are having certain more extensive surgical procedures, specifically pelvic exenteration, cytoreductive surgery (with or without a heated chemotherapy wash called HIPEC), or surgery at the same time to treat cancer that has spread to other parts of the body
- People who have a cognitive impairment (such as a condition affecting memory or thinking) that would prevent them from being able to give informed consent to participate
