Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who speak English or French (participants are paired with others who speak the same language)
- People between 18 and 60 years old
- People who have been diagnosed by their psychiatrist with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, based on standard diagnostic guidelines (DSM-5)
- People whose illness started less than 5 years ago, measured from when they first began taking antipsychotic medication
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose main diagnosis is alcohol or drug abuse or addiction (however, having a substance use issue alongside a primary diagnosis of a psychotic disorder is not a reason for exclusion)
- People who have a serious medical condition that could itself explain psychotic symptoms
- People who have a history of, or currently have, a neurological condition that affects their ability to produce speech
- People with an IQ below 70, or who have a developmental condition such as autism
