Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People with prostate cancer who have had their prostate surgically removed and whose PSA levels are rising again, with imaging scans (PET and MRI) showing the cancer has come back only in the area where the prostate used to be.
  • The area where the cancer has returned must be visible on a specific type of ultrasound scan (called TRUS), so that the treatment device can be placed accurately.
  • A biopsy (tissue sample) to confirm the cancer is recommended but not required.
  • People who have read and signed a consent form explaining that this is an investigational treatment and what other standard treatment options exist.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose cancer has spread to other parts of the body beyond the prostate bed area.
  • People whose cancer has only returned in the lymph nodes.
  • People who have previously had radiation treatment to the prostate bed area.
  • People whose cancer has returned in more than one separate location in the prostate bed area.
  • People with a life expectancy of less than 5 years, or those who are unable to tolerate or complete the treatment procedure involved in this trial.
