Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 years or older
- People who were diagnosed with a stroke affecting the middle cerebral artery more than one year ago
- People who are living in the community (not in a long-term care facility or hospital)
- People who are able to stand on their own for at least 60 seconds without assistance
- People who are able to understand spoken English
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a condition other than stroke that significantly affects their balance or posture (for example, an inner ear disorder or significant vision loss)
- People who have previously had a bone fracture in the leg related to fragile or weakened bones
- People who have a planned injection of Botox into the legs during the study period
- People who have nerve damage in the legs
- People who have certain conditions that make electrical stimulation unsafe — including an implanted electronic device (such as a pacemaker), active cancer or radiation treatment in the past six months, uncontrolled epilepsy, a skin rash or wound where the electrodes would be placed, current pregnancy, or an active blood clot in a deep vein
- People who have conditions that make a brain stimulation technique called TMS unsafe — including a history of seizures or metal implants in the head
- People who have taken part in a specific type of spinal stimulation treatment (tSCS) within the past two years (confirm with trial site)
