Who might be able to join this trial:
- The lesion (cyst or fluid collection) must be safely reachable by the procedure — meaning it can be seen on ultrasound, accessed through the vagina, and there are no bowel or blood vessels in the way
- People who have fluid-filled cysts in or near the ovaries or pelvis, pelvic fluid collections (pseudocysts), or pelvic abscesses may be considered
- People with a cyst that appears non-cancerous and is causing pain or symptoms may be considered
- People with a cyst that is suspected to be cancerous may be considered, but only when the goal of treatment is symptom relief rather than cure
Who may not be able to join:
- People under 18 years of age
- People whose general health is too poor to safely undergo the procedure
- People with vaginal narrowing or conditions that prevent vaginal access (such as severe vaginal shrinkage, never having had vaginal penetration, or vaginismus)
- People whose lesion is entirely solid, with no fluid-filled component
- People with a cyst that is suspected to be cancerous, where there is a risk that the procedure could spread cancer cells, and where treatment is still aimed at a cure
- People who have normal, non-symptomatic cysts that are not causing any problems (in uncertain cases, the trial site will reassess after 3 to 6 months before deciding on eligibility)
