Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been confirmed through tissue or cell testing to have prostate adenocarcinoma (a specific type of prostate cancer), with cancer that has spread to distant parts of the body but to no more than 10 sites, detected using a specialised scan (PSMA PET/CT or PSMA PET/MR), and with no spread to internal organs such as the liver or lungs.
  • People whose main prostate tumour is considered removable by surgery, or could become removable after a period of hormone treatment.
  • People whose testosterone levels are not in the very low (castration) range, or who have only had very low testosterone levels for 3 months or less.
  • People who are in good enough general physical health, rated as largely active and able to carry out light work (confirm with trial site for exact scoring details).
  • People who have adequate blood counts, liver function, and kidney function.
  • People who are willing to take part voluntarily, sign a consent form, follow all study rules and restrictions, and understand the study's purpose and requirements.
  • People who are capable of having children and are willing to use highly effective contraception throughout the study period.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose prostate cancer tissue shows certain rare or aggressive cell types, such as neuroendocrine, small cell, or sarcomatoid features.
  • People whose main prostate tumour has been assessed by the research team as not able to be removed by surgery.
  • People who have previously received hormone therapy (either medication or surgical removal of the testicles) for more than 3 months, or have had focused local treatment, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy for prostate cancer.
  • People with serious or poorly controlled existing health conditions that would make surgery or radiotherapy unsafe.
  • People with severe heart failure, unstable chest pain (angina), or who have had a heart attack within the past 6 months.
  • People with poorly controlled high blood pressure, poorly controlled diabetes, a lung condition requiring ongoing oxygen use, chronic liver disease, or HIV infection.
  • People who have had another type of cancer in the past 5 years, except for certain fully treated skin cancers (basal cell or squamous cell carcinoma).
  • People living with a mental illness, intellectual disability, or any condition that prevents them from being able to give informed consent.
