Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are a woman between 18 and 70 years old (including those aged exactly 18 or 70)
- You are a candidate for a specific type of keyhole (endoscopic) breast removal surgery that preserves the nipple, with immediate breast reconstruction using an implant, on one or both breasts
- A procedure to enhance the opposite breast at the same time may also be allowed
- You have been diagnosed with a common type of breast cancer (such as ductal carcinoma in situ, invasive ductal carcinoma, or invasive lobular carcinoma), confirmed before surgery, or you qualify for preventive breast removal surgery
- If you have breast cancer, your tumor is no larger than 5 cm before surgery (or after any pre-surgery chemotherapy if that applies), and there is no sign that the cancer has spread to the nipple, skin, chest wall, or other parts of the body
- You are willing to give your informed consent to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had open breast surgery in the past year (minor biopsy procedures do not count)
- You were diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have scar tissue under the nipple area caused by radiation therapy
- Your breast cancer has spread to other parts of the body (stage M1/metastatic)
- You have serious health conditions that make general anaesthesia or surgery unsafe
- Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is 40 or higher (a measure of body weight relative to height)
- Your long-term blood sugar control reading (HbA1c) is above 7.5% (confirm with trial site)
- You have a weakened immune system
- You currently smoke 20 or more cigarettes per day
- You are already taking part in another clinical trial that may conflict with this one
