Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been experiencing an adjustment disorder (a stress-related condition affecting mood) for at least 4 weeks, with symptoms of low mood or a mix of anxiety and low mood, confirmed by a doctor's interview
- Your adjustment disorder was triggered by one of the following medical conditions: cancer, ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), MS (multiple sclerosis), Parkinson's disease, or IPF (a lung condition causing scarring)
- You are physically well enough to take care of yourself and take part in the study activities
- Your memory and thinking abilities are working normally
- You are either already taking antidepressants or receiving talking therapy at a stable level, or you are willing to wait until the end of the study before starting them
- If you are female, you are not pregnant and do not plan to become pregnant during the study; if you are male, you do not plan to get a partner pregnant during the study
- You are willing and able to follow all the rules and requirements of the study
Who may not be able to join:
- You are considered to have a significant risk of suicide
- You have, or have had in the past, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or certain other serious mental health conditions, or a close family member (parent or sibling) has had psychosis or bipolar disorder
- You have, or have had, a cancer affecting the brain or nervous system
- You have other serious medical conditions that would make participation unsuitable (confirm with trial site)
- You are currently taking, or will need to take, certain medications or treatments that are not allowed in this study (confirm with trial site)
- You have a known allergy or bad reaction to the study treatment or any backup medications used in the trial
