Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have had an acute stroke with symptoms starting less than 24 hours ago.
- People whose stroke is rated at a certain level of severity on a standard medical scale (a score of 4 or higher but less than 25), with signs of involvement in the outer part of the brain and/or a blockage in a major blood vessel seen on imaging.
- People who are able to have two types of MRI brain scans within 24 hours of their stroke symptoms starting.

Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a medical reason why they cannot have an MRI scan (for example, certain metal implants).
- People who are considered medically unstable at the time of the trial.
- People who are unable to understand or follow instructions needed for the scanning process.
- People who had a notable level of disability before their stroke, based on a standard disability scale (a prior score of more than 3 out of 5) (confirm with trial site).
- People who have been identified as needing a procedure to physically remove a blood clot from a vessel.
- People whose imaging suggests a cause other than stroke, or who have a previous area of brain damage affecting more than one-third of a major brain artery's territory on their CT scan.
