  • People who have had an acute stroke with symptoms starting less than 24 hours ago.

  • People who are able to have two types of MRI brain scans within 24 hours of their stroke symptoms starting.
  • People who have or have not received clot-dissolving medication as part of their stroke treatment.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are considered medically unstable at the time of the trial.
  • People who are unable to understand or follow instructions needed for the scanning process.
  • People who had a notable level of disability before their stroke, based on a standard disability scale (a prior score of more than 3 out of 5) (confirm with trial site).
  • People who have been identified as needing a procedure to physically remove a blood clot from a vessel.
  • People whose imaging suggests a cause other than stroke, or who have a previous area of brain damage affecting more than one-third of a major brain artery's territory on their CT scan.
