Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been clinically diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis, meaning they have had knee pain for more than 3 months
- People whose morning joint stiffness lasts less than 30 minutes
- People whose knees make a cracking or grinding sound when moving (crepitus)
- People who have tenderness in the bone around the knee, no noticeable warmth in the knee, and/or whose knee osteoarthritis has been confirmed by an X-ray showing a moderate level of joint changes (graded 1 to 3 on the Kellgren and Lawrence scale)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have osteoarthritis affecting both hips or both knees at the same time
- People with severe osteoporosis (significant loss of bone density)
- People who have fibromyalgia (a condition causing widespread pain)
- People with a history of tumors or cancer
- People with active inflammatory joint conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis or gout, or who are currently undergoing a joint replacement surgery in the lower body
- People with neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophies, Alzheimer's disease, or other nerve and muscle disorders
- People with infected wounds or bone infections in or around the knee
- People with deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in the leg), thrombophlebitis (inflamed veins), or changes in sensation in the lower limbs
- People with cognitive (thinking or memory) or heart and lung conditions that may prevent them from safely completing exercise activities
- People who use a walking aid, or who have had a recent knee injury
- People who have received — or are currently receiving — any of the following in the six months before the trial begins: physiotherapy, steroid injections into the joint, anti-inflammatory medications, opioid pain medications, or cartilage-protective treatments
