Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are being seen at a rheumatology or internal medicine department in one of these locations: Aarhus, Silkeborg, Horsens, Gødstrup, Randers, or Svendborg, and doctors suspect you may have a condition called PMR (polymyalgia rheumatica)
- You are over 50 years old
- You have pain in the upper or lower parts of your arms or legs, close to the body (such as shoulders or hips)
Who may not be able to join:
- You have taken steroid medicines (such as tablets, injections into a vein, joint, or muscle) in the last 2 months
- You have previously been treated with prednisolone (a steroid) for PMR or a related condition called GCA (giant cell arteritis)
- You are not able to give your own consent to take part in the trial
- Your arm or leg pain has been going on for more than one year
- You have symptoms that may suggest GCA, such as headaches, a tender scalp, pain in the jaw or tongue when chewing, problems with your vision, or pain in your limbs when moving
- You have had an active cancer in the last 5 years (except a type of skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma)
- You have another known inflammatory joint or muscle condition, such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout, or similar diseases
- You have a serious uncontrolled health condition, such as severe asthma or advanced heart failure (confirm with trial site)
- For the MRI part of the trial: you have a medical implant that makes MRI scans unsafe, or your weight is over 150 kg

Primary endpoints
Clinical diagnosis of PMR after 1 year and a positive baseline [18F]FDG-PET scan, with MRI findings used to support interpretation of the PET evaluation.; A clinical diagnosis of PMR at baseline and a negative PET not requiring glucocorticoids for more than 3 months during the first year.
