Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are willing to take part, are able to follow the study requirements, and have signed a consent form agreeing to participate
  • Women aged 18 to 75 years who are either postmenopausal, or pre- or perimenopausal (still having or recently stopping periods)
  • People diagnosed with breast cancer that has come back or spread to other parts of the body, where laboratory testing has confirmed the cancer is positive for both ER (a hormone receptor) and HER2 (a specific protein)
  • People who have at least one area of cancer outside the brain that can be measured using standard imaging guidelines (known as RECIST 1.1)
  • People who have received no more than one previous treatment containing the drug trastuzumab for their recurrent or metastatic breast cancer

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have cancer that has spread to the brain or central nervous system and has not yet been treated
  • People with bilateral breast cancer (cancer in both breasts at the same time), inflammatory breast cancer, or latent (hidden/occult) breast cancer
  • People who have previously been treated with a CDK4/6 inhibitor drug (a type of targeted cancer therapy)
  • People who are unable to swallow, have a blockage in the bowel, or have another condition that would affect how a tablet or capsule is absorbed by the body
  • People who have had another type of cancer within the past 5 years or currently, with the exception of certain fully treated skin cancers (basal cell carcinoma) or cervical carcinoma in situ
