Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 65 years old (inclusive)
- You weigh at least 40 kg (about 88 lbs)
- You have been diagnosed with asthma for at least 12 months, confirmed by the study doctor
- You have been on a stable inhaled asthma treatment (with or without inhaled steroids) for at least 1 month, confirmed by the study doctor
- A breathing test called FeNO shows a reading of 25 or higher at both your initial screening and when you are assigned to a treatment group
- A blood test shows a higher-than-normal level of a certain type of white blood cell (eosinophils) — either 300 or more within the last 6 months, or 150 or more at your screening visit
- A lung function test shows your breathing capacity is at 80% or less of what would normally be expected for someone like you
Who may not be able to join:
- You have another serious health condition (such as a mental health, heart, digestive, kidney, blood, or nervous system condition) that the study doctor believes could affect your safety or ability to participate
- You have a known history of active tuberculosis, suspected signs of tuberculosis, or chest scan results suggesting tuberculosis (confirm with trial site for details on a special blood test called T-SPOT.TB)
- A blood test at screening shows your white blood cell count or a specific type called neutrophils is below the normal range
- You have had a life-threatening asthma attack requiring a breathing machine, or an attack involving dangerously high carbon dioxide, respiratory failure, or seizures due to low oxygen, within the past 5 years
- You have been diagnosed with another lung condition in addition to asthma, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or scarring of the lungs, in the opinion of the study doctor
