Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children between 0 and 18 years old who have a blood cancer (such as leukaemia or lymphoma)
- Children who have a blood cancer and develop a fever while having a low white blood cell count, specifically during certain treatment phases or disease types — this must be assessed and confirmed by a qualified paediatrician

Who may not be able to join:
- Children who have a blood cancer AND also have HIV infection or are in septic shock (a severe, life-threatening response to infection)

- Children whose fever appears to be caused by a reaction to a blood transfusion
- Children who have been receiving antibiotics in the 72 hours before joining the study — exceptions may apply for children already taking cotrimoxazole (to prevent a specific type of lung infection) or ciprofloxacin (as a preventive measure in certain blood cancers) (confirm with trial site)
- Children who have significantly reduced kidney function or significantly reduced liver function, based on specific blood test results (confirm with trial site)
