Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are between 18 and 30 years old at the time of joining the study
  • You are currently a patient in the inpatient eating disorder recovery program at Rogers Behavioral Health in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin
  • You have been diagnosed with an eating disorder as your main condition (such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, or a related condition)
  • You are able to read, write, and speak in English
  • You are considered eligible for mealtime anxiety support, meaning at least one of the following applies: you are eating less than 75% of your required meal plan, you show visible signs of anxiety or distress during meals, or you engage in harmful behaviors around mealtimes (or staff believe you may be at risk of doing so)

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have any metal in your body, such as braces, a pacemaker, metal plates or screws, implanted devices, or prostheses
  • You are currently taking a medication that lowers the threshold for seizures (confirm with trial site for specific medications)
  • You have any structural abnormalities in your skull, such as holes or plates
  • You have a history of seizures or a concussion that caused a blackout
  • You are currently pregnant
  • Medical staff judge that you may be at risk of harming yourself using the electrical stimulation device used in this study
  • During an initial test of the study device, the stimulation level that works for you falls below a certain technical threshold (confirm with trial site)
