Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People diagnosed with primary esophageal cancer at stage 1, 2, or 3, who have had or are planning to have surgery to remove and reconstruct the esophagus as part of treatment aimed at curing the cancer — as well as their family members
  • People who are at least 18 years old
  • People who speak and understand Korean at a native level
  • People who have given their consent to take part in the study

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who had another type of cancer at the same time as their esophageal cancer diagnosis, or who were diagnosed and treated for a cancer in another part of the body within the year before their esophageal cancer diagnosis
  • People who had surgery to remove and reconstruct the esophagus for a reason other than esophageal cancer, before their esophageal cancer diagnosis
  • People who have significant difficulties with thinking, understanding, or communicating
  • People who have had difficulty moving to eating by mouth after surgery, who require a stoma (an opening in the abdomen connected to the small intestine for waste), or where the trial doctor has determined that taking part in an interventional study would not be appropriate
  • People with reduced kidney function where limiting protein intake is medically advised — specifically, where kidney filtration rate is below a certain measured threshold (confirm with trial site for exact details)
  • People who are unable to walk due to joint problems, paralysis, or similar conditions
  • People who do not use a smartphone
