Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 19 years or older
- People who have agreed to take part voluntarily and have signed a consent form
- People who are able to give a blood sample safely
- People (in the cancer group) who have had or are planned to have surgery or chemotherapy to treat their cancer
- People diagnosed with one of these specific cancers: ovarian, lung, pancreatic, colorectal, esophageal, breast, bladder, kidney, or stomach cancer
- People in the comparison (control) group who have no symptoms and have been found to have gallstones or non-cancerous polyps, or who are attending a routine health check-up
- People in the comparison group whose imaging tests — such as ultrasound, CT scan, or colonoscopy — have confirmed that any findings are non-cancerous
Who may not be able to join:
- People under the age of 19
- People with an intellectual disability or a severe mental health condition that would make it difficult to give informed consent
- People with a history of HIV, HTLV, or syphilis infection
- People in the cancer group who have had a different cancer diagnosed within the last 5 years
- People in the cancer group where no specific genetic mutation has been detected in their tumour or in their blood before treatment begins (confirm with trial site)
- People in the comparison group who have ever been diagnosed with cancer, either in the past or currently
- People in the comparison group who have high-grade abnormal tissue growths (adenoma), gallstones or polyps causing symptoms, or who have had abdominal surgery within the past 6 months
- Women who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- People considered unsuitable for any other reason, as determined by the trial doctor
