Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are between 18 and 65 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis affecting only one or both knees for more than 6 months
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had major surgery on the affected knee, such as bone realignment, ligament repair or reconstruction, or cartilage transplantation (people who had a minor keyhole procedure more than 1 year ago may still be considered at the trial team's discretion)
- People who have had a serious injury to the affected knee, or to the hip, knee, or ankle on the same side of the body, such as a fracture, dislocation, or open wound — or who have had a complete ligament tear (some partial tears or long-standing meniscus issues may be considered at the trial team's discretion)
- People who have had an injection directly into the affected knee joint within the last 6 months
- People with a severe current ligament injury to the knee
- People with a known allergy to recombinant human growth hormone or the solutions used to prepare it
- People with a BMI below 20 or above 35
- People with a documented history of bone or connective tissue growth disorders, type 1 or type 2 diabetes, muscle disease, cancer, hormone disorders, severely high blood pressure, or rheumatological conditions
- People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or currently trying to become pregnant
- People currently taking blood sugar-lowering medications, oral oestrogen, or steroid hormone replacement therapy
- People who may have difficulty following a self-injection schedule or who have cognitive or functional limitations that could affect participation
- People who have taken creatine supplements within the 7 days before the baseline assessment (a pause in supplements and re-screening may be an option — confirm with trial site)
- People who have taken anabolic steroids within the 42 days (6 weeks) before the baseline assessment (a pause in supplements and re-screening may be an option — confirm with trial site)
- People whose vital signs or routine blood test results fall outside the normal range
