Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are able to understand the study requirements and are willing to sign a consent form before taking part
- You are between 40 and 85 years old
- You are a current or former smoker with at least 10 "pack-years" of smoking history (for example, smoking one pack a day for 10 years, or equivalent) (confirm with trial site)
- You have been formally diagnosed with COPD for at least 12 months before joining the study
- Your COPD is classified as moderate or severe
- You have had at least 2 moderate flare-ups, or at least 1 serious flare-up, of your COPD in the past 12 months
- You have been taking a combination of three inhalers (or two inhalers if one type is not suitable for you) at a stable dose for a set period of time before joining (confirm with trial site for exact medications)
- If you are able to have children, you and your partner must use reliable contraception throughout the study and for at least 3 months after the last dose, and you must not plan to become pregnant or donate eggs or sperm during this time
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a significant lung condition other than COPD
- You have been diagnosed with asthma, or have a history of asthma
- You have a condition called alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency
- You have an active autoimmune disease (where the immune system attacks the body)
- You have had any cancer in the past 5 years
- You have another serious medical condition that is not well controlled
- You have an active parasitic infection, or are considered at high risk of one
- You have active Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or HIV
- You have a known allergy or intolerance to any biological medicine
- The study doctor decides there is any other reason you should not participate
