Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are older than 18 years of age
- People who have lung nodules that have been identified on a chest CT scan, confirmed as cancerous through a tissue test, and are planned to receive a treatment that destroys the nodule from outside the body (such as radiofrequency, microwave, or freezing methods)
- People who have been diagnosed with a lung condition called COPD (a long-term breathing condition) according to established medical guidelines, and are planned to receive a thermal steam treatment for their COPD
- People who understand the study and are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose lung nodules appear on the chest CT scan as a specific type called "pure ground glass nodules" (confirm with trial site)
- People who have metal devices in their body such as a pacemaker, heart stent, or artificial heart valve, or who experience severe anxiety in enclosed spaces (claustrophobia), or who have had a serious reaction to contrast dye used in scans, as these may make MRI scans unsuitable
- People who have serious heart or lung problems that could significantly increase the risks of the ablation procedure
- People who have had a severe flare-up of their COPD or a lung infection (pneumonia) within the past four weeks
