Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults between 18 and 60 years of age, of any gender
- People who are able to read and sign a consent form agreeing to take part
- People who have been diagnosed with a schizophrenia-spectrum disorder and who score above 10 on a specific assessment of their ability to understand and consent to the study (confirm with trial site)
- People who score 3 or higher on a standard depression rating scale designed for people with schizophrenia (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to sign a consent form
- People who have a serious medical condition that may affect how the brain works, such as stroke, repeated seizures, a significant past head injury that affected thinking, a brain infection or tumour, or other significant brain or neurological conditions
- People with significant alcohol or drug use problems, not including nicotine or marijuana dependence
- People who are unable to avoid using alcohol or marijuana for 24 hours or more before study sessions
- People who are pregnant, which includes women of childbearing age who are not using contraception and have missed a period, those who report they may be pregnant, or those who test positive on a urine pregnancy test
- People who are unable to undergo MRI scanning due to metal devices or implants in their body (such as a pacemaker, neurostimulator, certain artificial joints, metal pins, surgical clips, or other implanted metal parts), or who do not wish to go into the MRI scanner
- People who do not pass a safety screening questionnaire for a brain stimulation technique called TMS (confirm with trial site)
