  • People who were already receiving specialised nutritional therapy at the time of admission, including those with a history of weight-loss surgery or stomach removal, or conditions affecting how the body absorbs food (such as short bowel syndrome or extensive bowel surgery)
  • People who are receiving palliative (end-of-life comfort) care and whose life expectancy is less than 3 months
  • People already taking part in another study that could affect survival or nutrition outcomes
  • People who have previously been enrolled in this same trial
  • Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or in labour
  • People who are unable to follow the trial procedures for any reason
  • People who are detained or restricted by a court or government order
  • People receiving involuntary psychiatric treatment
  • People under legal guardianship or a court-appointed protection order
  • People who do not have a sufficient understanding of the French language
