Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are joining this trial of your own free will and have signed a consent form agreeing to take part

  • You have previously had a hole or tear in your esophagus (food pipe), or have already received treatment for any cancer
  • You have previously had radiotherapy to your chest area
  • You have an active autoimmune disease (where your immune system attacks your own body), or have had one in the past
  • You are currently receiving or have previously received a type of immunotherapy called a PD-1 inhibitor, or are already taking part in another clinical trial involving a treatment
  • You are allergic to large protein-based medicines or to any ingredient in S-1 capsules (a type of chemotherapy tablet)
  • You have a heart condition that is not well controlled
  • You have a condition that weakens your immune system (such as HIV), or you have active hepatitis B, hepatitis C, or active tuberculosis
  • You have an active infection or have had an unexplained fever above 38.5°C in the 2 weeks before screening
  • You have been diagnosed with another type of cancer in the last 5 years (except for certain fully cured skin or cervical cancers — confirm with trial site)
