Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are able to verbally identify or describe colors and can understand and follow instructions during color vision testing
- People who have been formally diagnosed with an inherited retinal dystrophy (a genetic condition affecting the retina) — for the IRD participant group only
- People who have no known history of inherited retinal disease, have healthy retinas or only eye conditions unrelated to retinal function (such as mild cataracts or a corrected vision prescription), and have normal or expected-normal color vision — for the control group only
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose color vision difficulties are caused by conditions affecting the optic nerve (such as optic neuritis or glaucoma-related nerve damage), the brain's visual processing areas, or any other neurological condition unrelated to the retina
- People with severe developmental delays, cognitive impairments that would prevent them from reliably completing color vision tests, or psychiatric conditions that affect visual interpretation or reliable testing
- People who have recently had retinal surgery, recently used medications that affect retinal structure or function, or had any recent eye intervention that may mean their retinal condition is not yet in a stable state
