Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are over 18 years old and are currently admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU)
- People who have a moderate or severe chronic lung condition (specifically classified as GOLD stage 3 or 4)
- People who have a build-up of too much acid in the blood due to breathing difficulties, and are either using a breathing support mask (non-invasive ventilation) or are on a breathing tube (intubated)

- People who have an air leak between the lung and the surrounding chest cavity (broncho-pleural leak)
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding

- People who are currently detained or deprived of their liberty
- People who do not have health insurance
- People for whom the EIT monitoring belt cannot be properly placed on the chest, for example due to wound dressings or chest drains being in the way
- People who have a medical reason they cannot use the EIT device, such as having an implanted heart defibrillator, a pacemaker, or an unstable spinal injury
