Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged between 40 and 65 years
  • People who are able to understand and follow instructions given during the study
  • People who can communicate clearly and are aware of where they are and what time it is

  • People who had a stroke at least 6 months before joining the trial

  • People who are able to sit for at least one hour
  • People who are able to walk at least 10 metres, with or without a walking aid
  • People who have already completed all standard physiotherapy and rehabilitation programs for the lower limbs

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with significant memory or thinking difficulties, as measured by a standard cognitive test (confirm with trial site)
  • People with other conditions affecting their ability to walk or balance, such as bone or joint problems, a lower limb amputation, or osteoporosis
  • People whose vision is not clear enough to see a screen, such as those experiencing double vision
  • People with serious vision problems, such as loss of half the visual field, or problems with balance related to the inner ear
  • People with sensory problems such as being unaware of one side of their body
  • People with current acute muscle, joint, or heart and circulation problems
  • People who have an intrathecal baclofen pump in place, or who have had botulinum toxin (Botox) injections in the past 5 months
  • People who have a fixed or painful stiffness in the affected ankle that cannot be moved
  • People with uncontrolled ongoing health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or diseases that affect the immune system
  • People with a history of a neurological condition other than stroke that may affect their ability to understand instructions
  • People who are currently taking part in other physiotherapy, robotic rehabilitation, or neurological exercise programs for the lower limbs
