Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 65 years old (any gender)
- Bone growth is fully mature, as shown on imaging scans
- There is damage or localised injury to the cartilage in a joint, caused by trauma or another reason
- The injured area is on the lower weight-bearing surface of the femoral condyle (a part of the knee), with no more than 4 damaged spots, and the cruciate ligaments in the knee are not injured
- The person is willing to sign a consent form and commit to a strict rehabilitation program after surgery
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 35 (considered very overweight)
- People whose leg alignment is significantly off — specifically, the knee angles outward by more than 10° or inward by more than 5°
- People who have injuries to more than one ligament
- People with habits such as heavy smoking, drug use, or excessive alcohol consumption
- People who have had open knee surgery within the past six months
- People who have severe joint stiffness or scarring (fibrosis) in the joint
- People who have allergies to collagen, or who have a history of serious allergic reactions in general
- People with mental health conditions that affect their ability to participate
- People who are unable or unwilling to take part in rehabilitation training
- People with serious existing health conditions affecting daily life, such as heart disease, lung disease, hormonal or metabolic disorders, cancer, or AIDS
- People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the trial
- People with other acute or chronic conditions where the research team considers surgery to be unsuitable
