Who might be able to join this trial:

For autistic people without an eating disorder (Autistic Controls):

• You are between 25 and 45 years old
• You have been diagnosed with autism, or you score 6 or higher on a short autism questionnaire called the AQ-10
• You are able to give your own consent to take part in the study
• You can read, understand, and answer questionnaires written in English
• You have no history of an eating disorder
• You are willing to have an MRI brain scan in Aberdeen

For autistic people with anorexia nervosa:

• You are between 25 and 45 years old
• You have been diagnosed with autism, or you score 6 or higher on a short autism questionnaire called the AQ-10
• You are able to give your own consent to take part in the study
• You can read, understand, and answer questionnaires written in English
• You have a diagnosis of anorexia nervosa, or your body weight is considered medically low (BMI under 18.5)
• You are willing to have an MRI brain scan in Aberdeen

Who may not be able to join:

• You are younger than 25 or older than 45 years old
• You are not autistic and score below 6 on the AQ-10 questionnaire
• You have been diagnosed with an eating disorder other than anorexia nervosa
• You have a history of brain injury, such as a stroke
• You are unable to give your own consent to take part
• You have any medical device or implant in your body that makes MRI scanning unsafe, such as a pacemaker
• You cannot read, understand, or respond to questionnaires written in English
• You have an intellectual disability, as participants need to complete questionnaires and give consent independently
