Who might be able to join this trial:

For people with stroke, brain tumor, or traumatic brain injury:

  • People who are 18 years of age or older.
  • People who are able to give informed consent and follow the study procedures.
  • People who have damage to one or both sides of the brain that has caused vision loss.
  • People who are at least three months past a stroke or brain injury, or who have a brain tumor that has been stable over the past year.

For healthy volunteers (used as comparison participants):

  • People who are 18 years of age or older.
  • People who are able to give informed consent and follow the study procedures.

Who may not be able to join:

For people with stroke, brain tumor, or traumatic brain injury:

  • People who have serious brain or nervous system conditions unrelated to their main brain injury, which could affect the study results.
  • People who have serious mental health conditions that could affect the study results, or who have had a drug or alcohol problem (as defined by a standard medical guide called the DSM-5) currently or within the past six months.
  • People whose vision loss is caused by a problem with the eyes themselves, rather than brain damage.

For healthy volunteers:

  • People who have any brain, nervous system, or psychiatric conditions (such as epilepsy or schizophrenia) that could affect the study results.
  • People who have had a previous head injury.
  • People who have had a drug or alcohol problem (as defined by the DSM-5) currently or within the past six months.
