Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with a stroke that was confirmed by a brain scan (CT or MRI).
• This is your first stroke, it affected only one side of the brain, and it has caused problems with movement.
• You are between 40 and 75 years old.
• Your stroke happened between 2 weeks and 6 months ago.
• Your movement recovery is at a specific stage known as Brunnstrom stage II–IV, meaning you have some but limited movement ability (confirm with trial site).
• You are right-handed.
• You are able to understand instructions and are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part.

Who may not be able to join:

• You have a personal or family history of epilepsy (seizures).
• Your movement problems are caused by something other than a stroke, such as a brain tumour or a head injury.
• You have severe difficulty speaking or understanding language, or significant memory and thinking problems (confirm with trial site).
• You have serious health complications affecting major organs, or conditions such as a blood clot in a deep vein.
• You have metal implants in your body or any other reason you cannot safely have an MRI scan.
• You have severe anxiety or depression, as measured by specific scoring tools (confirm with trial site).
• You have severe muscle stiffness in the affected limb (confirm with trial site).
• You have a fear of, or cannot tolerate, the treatments used in this trial, which include TMS (a type of brain stimulation) or electroacupuncture.
• You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or currently taking part in another clinical trial that could affect the results.
