Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and your doctor considers you a candidate for light therapy or systemic (whole-body) medication to treat it, including a medicine called ustekinumab.
  • You are a current cigarette smoker.
  • You have been diagnosed with high blood pressure (hypertension).
  • You have been diagnosed with high cholesterol or high fats in the blood (hyperlipidemia).
  • You have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes.
  • You have a history of at least one heart or blood vessel event, such as a heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, mini-stroke (TIA), a procedure to open blocked heart arteries, heart bypass surgery, or hospitalisation for chest pain (unstable angina or acute coronary syndrome).
  • You are obese.
  • A close blood relative (parent, sibling, or child) had heart disease or sudden death at a relatively young age — specifically a male relative under 55 or a female relative under 65.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have had a heart attack, stroke, procedure to open blocked heart arteries, or a blood clot in a vein or lung within the last 90 days.
  • You have an unstable heart condition, such as unstable chest pain, a very fast irregular heartbeat, or you were hospitalised for a heart-related reason (such as a pacemaker being fitted or heart failure) within the last 90 days.
  • You currently have cancer, or have had cancer (including blood cancers) within the last 5 years — except for certain treated skin cancers (basal cell or squamous cell) or treated early-stage cervical cancer with no signs of return.
  • There may be additional requirements not listed here (confirm with trial site).
