Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 18 to 79 years old
  • People who had little or no disability before their stroke (able to live independently or with minimal symptoms)
  • People who have had a stroke affecting the front part of the brain within the last 48 hours, and whose stroke is considered severe based on at least one of the following: a high stroke severity score (NIHSS between 15 and 32), a reduced level of consciousness measured by a standard scale (GCS score between 4 and 12), or brain imaging showing a large affected area
  • People whose blood test at the time of joining shows a raised level of a marker of inflammation called hs-CRP (2 mg/L or above)
  • People who received treatment to restore blood flow to the brain but whose stroke symptoms remain severe after that treatment
  • People who have given written consent to take part

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have had a severe type of bleeding into the stroke-affected area of the brain (called PH2 hemorrhagic transformation) before joining the trial
  • People who have already experienced dangerous brain swelling causing a shift in brain structures, or who have already had surgery to relieve pressure on the brain
  • People with dangerously low blood pressure that cannot be corrected with medication, or with severe heart failure
  • People with significant liver or kidney problems, as measured by specific blood test results
  • People with blood clotting problems or a very low platelet count (the blood cells that help with clotting)
  • People who have a blood clot in the deep veins of the legs before joining the trial
  • People whose life expectancy is less than 90 days due to cancer
  • People who have taken part in another clinical trial of a drug or medical device in the past 30 days, or who are currently enrolled in one
  • Women who could become pregnant and have a negative pregnancy test but are unwilling to use effective contraception, as well as women who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People for whom the blood-filtering treatment used in this trial is not medically suitable (confirm with trial site)
