Who might be able to join this trial:
Arm 1 (first-time treatment group):
- People receiving their first treatment for prostate cancer using a specific type of radiation called I-125 seeds or high-dose-rate brachytherapy (a form of internal radiation)
- People who have not had any previous treatment for prostate cancer
- People aged 18 or older
Arm 2 (repeat treatment group):
- People receiving a type of internal radiation therapy (high-dose-rate or pulsed-dose-rate brachytherapy) as a follow-up or "salvage" treatment after a previous prostate cancer treatment
- People who have not had any radiation therapy within the three months before this salvage treatment
- People for whom complete medical records of their previous prostate cancer treatment are available
- People who have not had their prostate surgically removed
- People aged 18 or older
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a pre-existing autoimmune disease (a condition where the immune system attacks the body's own tissues)
- People who are currently taking blood-thinning medication
- People with a history of substance abuse
