Who might be able to join this trial:

Arm 1 (first-time treatment group):

  • People receiving their first treatment for prostate cancer using a specific type of radiation called I-125 seeds or high-dose-rate brachytherapy (a form of internal radiation)
  • People who have not had any previous treatment for prostate cancer
  • People aged 18 or older

Arm 2 (repeat treatment group):

  • People receiving a type of internal radiation therapy (high-dose-rate or pulsed-dose-rate brachytherapy) as a follow-up or "salvage" treatment after a previous prostate cancer treatment
  • People who have not had any radiation therapy within the three months before this salvage treatment
  • People for whom complete medical records of their previous prostate cancer treatment are available
  • People who have not had their prostate surgically removed
  • People aged 18 or older

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have a pre-existing autoimmune disease (a condition where the immune system attacks the body's own tissues)
  • People who are currently taking blood-thinning medication
  • People with a history of substance abuse
