Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa (restricting type) that is moderate or severe, meaning your BMI is below 17
• You are willing and able to swallow capsules as part of the treatment without vomiting them up
• You can read and understand conversational English

Who may not be able to join:

• You are currently in a medically or mentally unstable condition that requires a hospital stay
• You have the binge/purge type of anorexia nervosa (rather than the restricting type)
• You have taken antibiotics or probiotic supplements in the month before starting treatment
• You regularly take steroid tablets by mouth, or use strong steroid creams or ointments on large areas of your skin
• You have a long-term condition that weakens your immune system, or a long-term illness that affects your gut or your body's ability to process nutrients
• You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study period
• You are currently enrolled in any treatment programme that involves being guided to increase your food intake (refeeding)
