Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are having a specific surgery called a pancreaticoduodenectomy (removal of part of the pancreas and surrounding tissue) at one of the four hospitals taking part in the trial, for a non-cancerous or cancerous tumor in the head of the pancreas.
Who may not be able to join:
- You are under 18 years old.
- You are currently pregnant, have recently given birth, or are breastfeeding.
- Your surgery is planned for a reason other than a tumor — for example, for a long-term inflammation of the pancreas (chronic pancreatitis).
- You currently have an active infection at the time of joining the trial.
- You are already taking medication that weakens your immune system before the operation.

- You are currently under a court or government order restricting your freedom.

- You are not covered by a social security or equivalent health insurance scheme.
- You do not wish to take part in the study.
