Who might be able to join this trial:

• You are between 18 and 70 years old
• You have been diagnosed with severe acute pancreatitis (a serious inflammation of the pancreas)
• Any organ problems you had were able to recover within 48 hours, with no lasting organ failure
• You are approximately 2 weeks after your pancreatitis started (not in the most acute phase), and scans show your condition has significantly improved compared to before
• You have a feeding tube already in place for nutrition
• There are no absolute reasons why you cannot receive a gut microbiota transplant (a transfer of healthy gut bacteria) (confirm with trial site)
• You are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
• The pressure in your abdomen is within a safe range (below 12mmHg, as measured by a specific test) (confirm with trial site)
• You are able to pass gas or have bowel movements on your own
• Your abdominal bloating has significantly improved compared to when you were first admitted

Who may not be able to join:

• You have serious complications such as bleeding in your gut or an abnormal opening in your intestine (intestinal fistula)
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding
• You are not willing to sign a consent form
• You had a long-term problem with your heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, or blood before you were admitted to hospital
• You have a cancer that cannot be cured
• You have an autoimmune disease (where your immune system attacks your own body)
• You have a weakened immune system due to a previous organ or bone marrow transplant, HIV/AIDS, or long-term use of medications that suppress the immune system
• You are unable to get enough nutrition through your feeding tube because of severe diarrhea, bowel narrowing, severe gut swelling, or a high-output intestinal fistula
• You currently have signs of a serious body-wide inflammatory response to infection (confirm with trial site)
• You need strong, broad-spectrum antibiotics because of an infection outside the gut
• You have a condition — either from birth or developed later — that weakens your immune system
• You have a severe mental health disorder
