Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) — a condition where gradually worsening language problems are the main reason for decline in daily functioning, and where other medical, psychiatric, or non-brain-disease causes have been ruled out.

• People for whom language difficulty is their primary neurological problem.

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have a condition other than PPA that could explain their language difficulties.
• People who have a history of epilepsy, or whose brainwave recording (EEG) shows signs of epileptic activity.
• People who have a medical reason that prevents them from safely receiving the brain stimulation treatments used in this trial (TMS and tDCS), such as having ferromagnetic (certain metal) implants in the body, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• People with a terminal illness or an active cancer diagnosis.
• People who have had problems with alcohol or substance misuse in the past year.
• People who have been diagnosed with certain major psychiatric conditions, including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or personality disorders.
• People who are completely unable to communicate (no speech at all), or whose language abilities are considered by the research team too limited to participate in the study.
• People whose PPA is severe enough that taking part in the trial's activities or assessments would not be possible at the time of joining.
• People who have taken part in another clinical trial within the past 4 months.
• People who regularly take medications that could affect the study results — though some medications are permitted if the dose has been stable for at least 3 months before joining, including certain anti-seizure medications, diazepam-type medications, dementia medications (such as donepezil, galantamine, rivastigmine, or memantine), antidepressants known as SSRIs, and certain other medications that may affect seizure risk (confirm specific medication situations with the trial site).
