Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older (either staying in hospital or attending as an outpatient) who are having a specific type of biopsy procedure called EUS-guided FNB (a biopsy taken using an ultrasound scope passed into the digestive tract)
- People having this biopsy taken from a solid or fluid-filled growth located in the pancreas, the ampulla of Vater (a small opening where the bile duct meets the digestive tract), or a specific section of the bile duct that runs through the pancreas
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are having a separate bile duct procedure called ERCP on the same day as the biopsy
- People who are currently experiencing an active episode of acute pancreatitis (sudden, severe inflammation of the pancreas) at the time of the biopsy
- People having a different type of biopsy called EUS-guided FNA (a finer needle sampling procedure, rather than a core tissue biopsy)
- People with blood clotting levels that cannot be corrected to a safe level before the procedure (confirm with trial site)
- People with a low platelet count that cannot be corrected to a safe level before the procedure (confirm with trial site)
- People who do not wish to participate or are not willing to sign the consent form
