Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have recently been diagnosed with chronic plaque psoriasis (a skin condition that causes raised, scaly patches).
Who may not be able to join:
- People with psoriasis who have used systemic treatments (medicines that work throughout the whole body) in the 3 months before the study, except for acitretin use within the last 3 years.
- People who have a skin infection, or other skin or immune system conditions such as lupus, lichen planus, dermatomyositis, or vitiligo, based on their medical history or examination.
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- People who have any medical reason why they cannot safely take the medicine methotrexate (confirm with trial site).
- People who experience a serious side effect during methotrexate treatment that requires stopping the medicine before week 16, such as problems with bone marrow, raised liver test results, or severe stomach and gut symptoms.
- People who have significant difficulty with learning or understanding, those without formal education, or those who are unwilling or unable to provide daily reports about whether they are taking the probiotic treatment as directed.

Primary endpoints
To identify the changes in gut microbiome and the clinical impact induced by treatment of newly diagnosed psoriasis patients with probiotics and methotrexate, compared to the standard treatment with methotrexate alone.
