Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with active Crohn's disease and were seen at the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University between July 2023 and December 2024
• You are between 18 and 50 years old
• You have also been diagnosed with sarcopenia (a condition where you have low muscle mass and strength)
• You are willing and able to follow a liquid/formula-only diet taken by mouth as part of your treatment
• You are willing to sign a consent form and follow all the steps involved in the study
• Your Crohn's disease affects your colon or both your colon and small intestine, and has reached a certain level of severity based on a scoring system used by doctors (confirm with trial site)

Who may not be able to join:

• You have short bowel syndrome (a condition where a large part of your small intestine is missing or not working)
• You have a high-output fistula (an abnormal opening in your gut that leaks a large amount of fluid)
• You are currently in a state of severe physical stress or shock
• You have a complete blockage in your bowel, active bleeding in your gut, or a serious infection inside your abdomen
• You have severe liver, kidney, or heart disease, or any form of cancer
• You have a known allergy or medical reason not to take the nutritional supplements Ensure or HMB
• You experience persistent severe vomiting or diarrhoea that cannot be controlled
• You have an inherited condition affecting how your body processes sugars or proteins (confirm with trial site)
• You have had bowel surgery related to Crohn's disease, or received a biologic medication in the past month, or taken immunosuppressant or antibiotic medicines for Crohn's disease in the past two weeks
