Who might be able to join this trial:

• Men, or women who meet specific eligibility criteria set by the trial site
• People who have a higher-than-normal level of a type of white blood cell called eosinophils, measured through a blood test
• People who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe COPD for at least one year, confirmed by specific breathing test results

Who may not be able to join:

• People whose main lung condition is something other than COPD, as judged by the treating doctor
• People who currently have, or have previously been diagnosed with, asthma (though people whose childhood asthma fully resolved before age 18 and has not returned may still be considered)
• People with other significant lung diseases where COPD is not the primary diagnosis
• People who have had more than one moderate flare-up, or any severe flare-up, of COPD in the 12 months before the first visit
• People who have had pneumonia, a COPD flare-up, or a lower respiratory tract infection in the four weeks before the first visit
• People who have previously had, or are planning to have, lung volume reduction surgery or a similar procedure
• People currently in the active phase of a pulmonary rehabilitation programme within four weeks before the first visit
• People who need a breathing support machine (such as BiPAP or CPAP) due to high carbon dioxide levels in their blood
• People who need continuous supplemental oxygen because of their COPD
