Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who were hospitalised at some point between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2026.
- People who have been diagnosed with a condition called Takayasu arteritis (TAK), confirmed using one or more of three recognised sets of medical diagnostic guidelines.
- People whose Takayasu arteritis has been found to affect the pulmonary arteries (the blood vessels connecting the heart to the lungs), confirmed by a specialised type of CT or catheter-based imaging scan.
- People whose pulmonary artery involvement was identified through imaging and clinical signs, even if the main large blood vessels (aorta and its primary branches) are not affected, and where other diseases that could cause similar changes to the pulmonary arteries have been ruled out (confirm with trial site).
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose pulmonary artery problems are caused by a condition other than Takayasu arteritis — for example, other forms of blood vessel inflammation, a condition called fibrosing mediastinitis, a tumour of the pulmonary artery, sarcoidosis affecting the lungs, or a long-term clotting condition called chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.
