Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years of age or older.
  • You were last seen healthy or feeling normal within the past 24 hours before being enrolled in the trial.

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your brain scans show there is already bleeding in the brain.
  • You had significant physical disability before your stroke started.
  • You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have a known allergy to contrast dyes used in scans or to steroid medications.
  • You are already taking part in another clinical trial.
  • The shape or twisting of your arteries means the clot-removal device cannot safely reach the blockage.
  • You have had bleeding from your stomach, bowel, or urinary system in the past month.
  • You are on long-term kidney dialysis or have severely reduced kidney function, based on blood test results.
  • You have an advanced illness where your life expectancy is less than 6 months.
  • It is not expected that you will be able to complete all the required follow-up appointments.
  • You have a brain aneurysm (a bulge in a blood vessel) or an abnormal tangle of blood vessels in the brain.
  • You have a brain tumour that is causing pressure or swelling in the brain shown on scans.
  • You have an active widespread infection affecting your whole body.
