Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been recently diagnosed with AML (a type of blood cancer) that has not yet been treated, and your doctors consider you a candidate for intensive chemotherapy.
- Your AML has a specific genetic change called an NPM1 mutation.
- Your general health and ability to carry out daily activities meets a certain minimum level, as measured by your doctor (the requirement is stricter if you are over 65 years old).

Who may not be able to join:

- You have a stomach or digestive problem that could affect how your body absorbs medication taken by mouth.
- You have another cancer that currently requires active treatment (except breast or prostate cancer that is stable or responding to hormone-based therapy).
- You are unable to swallow tablets or capsules.
- You are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
- You have an active hepatitis B infection, active hepatitis C infection, or HIV with a detectable level of virus in your blood.
