Group 1 – People who carry a gene mutation linked to ALS but have no symptoms:
- Adults aged 18 to 90
- People who have given written agreement to take part

- People who have no symptoms of motor neuron disease at the time of joining
Group 2 – Healthy comparison participants (no ALS history):
- Adults aged 18 to 90
- People who have given written agreement to take part
- People who are covered by a social security/health insurance scheme (confirm with trial site)
- People who have no known ALS-related gene mutation and no close family members with ALS
- People who have not been diagnosed with any motor neuron disease
Group 3 – People with early or possible ALS, or conditions that look like ALS:
- Adults aged 18 to 90
- People who have given written agreement to take part
- People who are covered by a social security/health insurance scheme (confirm with trial site)
- People with purely physical/motor symptoms that are early or possible signs of ALS, or a condition that resembles ALS, where symptoms have been present for no more than 12 months (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to give consent to participate
- People who are under a legal protection order, guardianship, or supervised care arrangement
- People who are unable to read the participant information due to language barriers or psychological reasons
- Women who are pregnant
- People who are unlikely to be able to attend the scheduled study visits
- People who are unwilling to provide any one of the following samples: a blood sample, a tear fluid sample, or a urine sample
