Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults over 18 years old who are scheduled to have a planned (non-emergency) total hip replacement for osteoarthritis (joint wear and tear)
- People with a Body Mass Index (BMI) below 35
- People who are able to walk more than 150 feet (about 45 metres) before the operation, even if a walking aid such as a cane, walker, or wheelchair is needed
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had previous surgery on the hip that is being treated
- People who have a neurological condition (a disorder affecting the brain, spinal cord, or nerves) that affects the way they walk
- People for whom either of the two surgical approaches being studied in this trial (the Direct Anterior Approach or the Posterior Approach) would not be considered medically safe (confirm with trial site)
