Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Women between the ages of 18 and 40
  • People who have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) based on having at least two of the following: irregular or absent periods, signs of higher-than-normal male hormones (such as excess hair growth or acne), or cysts on the ovaries seen on an ultrasound
  • People who are able and willing to follow all study procedures, including fasting for more than 10 hours (water only), avoiding alcohol for more than 24 hours, and avoiding exercise for more than 24 hours before each study visit
  • People who are willing to keep their usual eating habits, exercise routine, medications, and supplements the same throughout the study
  • People with a body mass index (BMI) of 18 or above
  • People who have access to a smartphone, computer, or tablet for digital tracking and communication with the study team

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who currently follow a low-carbohydrate diet (where less than 30% of daily food energy comes from carbohydrates)
  • People whose irregular periods are caused by something other than PCOS, such as menopause, removal of the ovaries, or other reproductive conditions
  • People with a history of type 1 diabetes, or type 2 diabetes that is not well controlled
  • People who have lost 10% or more of their body weight in the past 6 months
  • People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People who have used hormonal contraception or any medication known to affect reproductive hormones within the 3 months before joining the study
  • People with an active eating disorder or a medical condition that could affect how they respond to changes in their diet
  • People with any other condition that the trial doctor considers could affect their safety, the study results, or their ability to take part (confirm with trial site)
